Dementia is a growing public health concern worldwide that significantly impacts society from both medical and socio-economic perspectives. In Thailand, the rising elderly population has drawn much attention to age-related dementia1,2 however, early-onset dementia (EOD), which occurs in individuals younger than 65 years, remains underrecognized.

Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is an uncommon motor neuron disease which affects both upper and lower motor neuron in several body regions. These patients have progressive symptoms of weakness, dysphagia, respiratory insufficiency, and will have deficits in activities of daily living.
